Info. we received from Dakota Indian Atifacts when purchased for our museum"Buffalo Bone spade from South Dakota. Mandan culture,
used the Scapula bone of the Buffalo as spades, didn’t take
near as much effort to shape as the flint spades, you can see
where the cut at it on the narrow end, they also chopped and
shaved off the high ridges on the back, lots of use polish on
the big end. Measures 10 1/2” long.
