    Description

An interesting  example of the 1852 large cent. Appears to closely resemble the N-8 R2 variety, however the right top of the 5 does not touch the portrait as is required for the variety as noted in the Newcomb text as well as the Grellman -Reiver text. There is a small space between the right top of the  5 and the portrait. It is possible that it is N-8 but it seems to require more study. A scratch in the field that looks like a die break detracts. Also there are some other marks. Smooth brown surfaces.
